The cathode arc technology can ensure the ionization of more than 90% of the target, so the bonding force between the coating and the matrix can be greatly improved. However, as the cathode arc technology is not deposited of large particles, the surface smoothness of the coating decreases, which is suitable for the coating of the tool.
The crystal grain sizes of the three technologies are very different. Due to the high ionization rate in cathodic arc technology, the crystal grains of the coating are very fine, followed by the magnetron sputtered grains and the coating particles of the vapor deposition technique are the largest.
Since any method has its applicability, and should be choose the appropriate coating method according to their requirements in actual production, truly make the best use. At present, the main application of stainless steel processing in China is PVD evaporation technology. The technology is relatively easy to operate, the investment of equipment is small, the effect of the product is fine and the profit is great, so the vacuum evaporation industry of stainless steel PVD has developed very rapidly in these years.
