What is normalizing steel? What's the purpose? What are the applications?

Normalizing of steel: normalizing is the process of heating steel to an appropriate temperature above AC3 or Accm, holding the steel for an appropriate time after complete austenitization, cooling at a faster rate (air cooling, air cooling or spray) to obtain the pearlite structure. The essence of the normalizing process is complete austenitization and pseudo-eutectoid transformation. Objective: to refine grain, uniform composition, and structure, eliminate internal stress, adjust hardness, eliminate defects such as Weinberger structure, banding structure and reticular carbide, so as to provide suitable microstructure for final heat treatment.

Objective: to refine grain, uniform composition, and structure, eliminate internal stress, adjust hardness, eliminate defects such as Weinberger structure, banding structure and reticular carbide, so as to provide suitable microstructure for final heat treatment.

Application: 1, improve the cutting performance of low carbon steel. 2. Eliminate the hot working defects of medium carbon steel (Weinberg structure, banded structure, coarse grain). 3, eliminate the net carbide of type precipitation steel, easy to spheroid annealing, prepare for quenching.
4, as the final heat treatment, improves the mechanical properties of common structural parts.
