Stainless steel composition process-The stabilized steel contains titanium and niobium, which adsorb the carbon emitted during the welding process to prevent the formation of chromium carbide. The formation of chromium carbide leads to the loss of chromium at grain boundary and makes the material susceptible to intercrystalline corrosion. For welded construction, a low carbon (C≤0.03%) or stable stainless steel sheet thickness of approximately 6mm or more should be used. Chromium carbide severely limits polishing.
