In fact, pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress crack corrosion caused by chloride ion and other halogen ions are the most common ones. As a result, the passivation layer ruptures locally, and local corrosion continues. Thin-walled parts, such as metal bellows, are particularly vulnerable to this type of corrosion. If necessary, the service life should be determined by tests. In addition, the hazards of cooling water to components should not be underestimated. The surface surrounded by water must be sufficiently passivated and the cooling water must exhibit the characteristics specified by the manufacturer.
