Mould heat treatment is an important process to ensure mould performance. It has a direct influence on the following properties of the mold.
The manufacturing precision of the mould: the uneven and incomplete transformation of the structure, the excessive residual stress formed by heat treatment, resulting in the deformation of the mould after processing, assembling and using the mold after heat treatment, thus reducing the precision of the die and even discarding the mould.
The strength of the mould: the improper heat treatment process, the non-standard heat treatment operation or the incomplete state of the heat treatment equipment, resulting in the strength of the treated mold (hardness) cannot reach the design requirements.
The working life of the mould: the structure of the heat treatment is not reasonable and the grain size exceeds the standard, which leads to the decline of the main properties, such as the toughness of the mould, the cold and hot fatigue and the wear resistance, and the working life of the mould.
Mould manufacturing cost: as the middle part or final process of the mold manufacturing process, the heat treatment causes the cracking, the deformation super difference and the performance super poor. In most cases, the mould will be scrapped. Even through the repair it can still be used and increase working hours, it will extend the time of delivery and improve the manufacturing cost of the mould.
It is the heat treatment technology and the quality of the mold that are closely related to each other, making these two technologies mutually promote and improve together in the process of modernization. Since the 1980s, the rapid development of international mold heat treatment technology has been the vacuum heat treatment technology, the surface strengthening technology of molds and the pre-hardening technology of mold materials.
