Common carbon carburized steel can be divided into carbon carburized steel and alloy carburized carbon steel
1) Among carbon carburized carbon steels, 15 and 20 steels are most commonly used. After carburizing and heat treatment, their surface hardness can reach 56-62HRC. However, due to low hardenability, it is only applicable to small parts with low core strength requirements, low stress and wear resistance, such as shaft sleeve, chain, etc.
2) Low alloy carburized carbon steel such as 20Cr, 20Cr2MnVB, 20Mn2TiB, its permeability and core strength are higher than carbon carburized carbon steel, can be used in the manufacture of general machinery more important carburized parts, such as cars, tractors in the gear, piston pin, etc..
3) In the alloy carburized carbon steel, such as 20Cr2Ni4, 18Cr2N4W, 15Si3MoWV, due to its high hardenability and high strength and toughness, mainly used to manufacture large section, heavy bearing, bearing complex parts, such as aircraft engine gear, shaft and so on.
Solid carburizing, liquid carburizing, gas carburizing -- carburizing temperature is 900--950℃, surface layer W (carbon) is 0.8-- 1.2%, layer depth is 0.5--2.0mm.
The heat treatment after carburizing - carburizing workpiece should be considered as a composite material with a large difference between the surface and the center content. Carburizing can only change the amount of carbon on the surface of the workpiece, while the final strengthening of the surface and the core must be achieved by proper heat treatment. After carburizing the workpiece shall be quenched and tempered at low temperature. The purpose of quenching is to form high carbon martensite or high carbon martensite and fine granular carbide structure on the surface. Low tempering temperature is 150-200 ℃.
